I was always fascinated by the movies of Cousteau, and I certainly wanted to dive – but I was too scared! Then, during a holiday on Cuba with my brother, I finally took the giant stride. I’d like to say that I was the born diver, but that would be stretching the truth way too far ;) I had caught the dive bug though, and there was only one way to go: diving down. I dived whenever I had a couple of days’ holiday and a couple of years later I was funnily enough a guest at Divers Down in the Oceanic Hotel. Who would have thought I’d return as employee one day ;)
After working several years as marketing and sales manager for Japanese conglomerate, Omron, I finally decided to start a new life as diving instructor in 2005. I have since worked as instructor and/or manager for dive centres in various parts of the world – Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and the Caribbean.
Originally from the same country as Lego, I speak (and teach in) Danish, German, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian and English. I love teaching; especially when I can help nervous divers gain confidence to overcome their fears.
When it comes to diving, my motto is: safety first, fun a close second. I do not compromise on safety or quality; so I guess I’m a demanding instructor: my students don’t get a certification; they earn it ;)
I look forward to settling down in Fujairah and to working with Divers Down, where I can combine my original expertise in marketing with my love for diving as well as my passion for education on / conservation of the marine environment.
PS: Paul felt he had to extend the legs of my Lego woman to do me justice……having rather short legs (poor man), he still can’t quite believe that a woman’s legs can be 36 inches ;)
